2014 CONGRESSIONAL ELECTIONS

What's going to happen in the 2014 Congressional elections?  I am here to tell you.  Of course, this is my opinion.

Here is what I am seeing.  First, the Democrats in the Senate are not very likeable because of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.  Obamacare has hurt a lot of people.  And, of course, it is the Democrats that gave us this monstrous law.  So, I see Republicans gaining the Senate.  Beginning in January 2015, in the next Congress, the make up of the Senate will be 52 Republicans, and 48 Democrats.

As for the House, the Republicans are seen as part of the problem.  This House of Representatives is the most unpopular I have seen in my lifetime.  So, I see the Republicans losing seats in the House, but not enough to lose control of the House.    The Republicans currently have a 36 seat majority in the House.  In January, as the result of the election this November, I see the Republican majority shaved down to about 10 seats.

The Republicans will have control of Congress, but just barely.  Not enough to override an Obama veto.  What this means.  The Republicans will be able to pass a repeal of Obamacare, and Obama can veto the repeal.  So, we will still have Obamacare.  In order to get rid of Obamacare, we will need a Republican Congress and President.  That's not likely to happen because of what happened in the 01-03 Congress.  That is, of course, unless the Republican Party mends it's ways by 2016, and gives us a good Presidential ticket, and a good slate of Congressional candidates.  But, I'm not going to hold my breath.

Looks like this divided Government is going to be here for a long time.
